Mechanic photographs a worn motorcycle chain and sprocket for a customer update

Photograph the decision-relevant detail

The best repair photo answers a question. Frame the worn, damaged, or leaking area clearly and remove unrelated objects from view. Take a wider orientation photo only when the customer needs it to understand where the detail is located.

Add a short explanation

Describe what is visible, why the workshop recommends action, and what work is proposed. Avoid unexplained abbreviations. A customer should understand the request without needing to call for a translation of workshop terminology.

Keep the image with the request

Attach the photo directly to the additional-work approval rather than sending it in a separate message. That preserves the relationship between the evidence, expected amount, and approve-or-decline decision.

Protect customer information

Check the image for license plates, paperwork, screens, faces, and other vehicles before publishing it. Only share the minimum view needed to explain the repair finding.
